David Lloyd

Dave Lloyd is a City of Edinburgh Music School alumnus, who studied piano, violin and composition at the school. At the age of 13 he performed in the string section of the City of Edinburgh Music School’s 2005 recording of Mackay’s Memoirs.

Dave’s focus increasingly shifted towards studio production and electronic music. Having left the school in 2010, he continued further developing his studio production skills, working with diverse sets of musicians while gradually expanding his own studio. In 2015 he would go on to build and co-found Lost Oscillation, a recording studio based in Leith. Since then, Lost Oscillation has grown into a renowned musical home for many artists from Scotland and further afield. Recently, Dave recorded and produced (fellow Alumnus) Sean Shibe’s performance of Steve Reich’s ‘Electric Counterpoint’, which Reich described as “one of the best recordings of Electric Counterpoint ever”.

He also performs, writes and produces in Stillhound, an Edinburgh-based band. Winners of the 2017 Scottish Alternative Music Awards ‘Best Electronic’ category, they have toured Europe, also establishing a global fan base through copious plays on BBC Radio, as well as multiple sync features on UK television shows. Set for their biggest year yet in 2019, the band is about to release their sophomore album and have also been selected by PRS & Creative Scotland for their ‘Momentum’ fund. In addition to his musical pursuits, Dave is an experienced electronics technician, building and repairing audio equipment from his workshop located inside the Lost Oscillation premises.
